Walter Brown Services was founded in 1946 as Walter E. Brown & Son Roofing. As soldiers returned from WWII and took up residence in Howard County, Walter Brown, Sr. saw a need for a skilled contractor. He and his son, Walter Brown, Jr., built the company by providing honesty, service, and excellent workmanship. They did the original siding and exterior work on many of the homes in our area. When Walt Sr. retired, Walt Jr. took over the company and continued to provide high-quality home-building exterior services.
Today, the company has expanded its crew and has been renamed Walter Brown Services. It’s owned by Matt Cisna, a close family friend and long-time employee of the Brown family.
Matt began working for Walt Jr. during the summer at the age of 14. Matt learned the trade, and after studying business in college, he returned to Halethorpe and began working for Walt Jr. full time. As Walt Jr. focused on the business aspects of the company, Matt was put in charge of the daily operations.
When Walt Jr. began to plan for his own retirement, he offered Matt the opportunity to take over the company. Matt accepted and began to learn the business side of things from Walt Jr. and Laverne, his wife. On January 1, 2009, Matt officially took full responsibility for all aspects of Walter Brown Services. Today, you can depend on us to provide the same honesty, service, and excellent workmanship that we did in 1946.
